Verna Brashear, 93, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 10:10 am on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born February 28, 1920 in Jacobs Creek, Westmoreland County, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph J and Augustine C. (Valent) Lindway. Mrs. Brashear was a member of the Fairdale Free Methodist Church in Carmichaels. Surviving are two sons, Charles "Chuck" J. Brashear and his wife Karen of Ohio and F. Gene Brashear and his wife, Elzine of Stephens City, Va.; a daughter, Darlene Metcalf of Rocky Ridge, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Deceased are her husband, Charles R. Brashear; a grandchild; a daughter, Catherine Burch; a brother, Charles Lindway; four sisters, Mary Walters, Irene C. Wellington, Velma Haley and Shirley Federer and her son-in-laws, Ronald Burch and Ernie Metcalf. Family and friends were welcomed from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, the hour of services on Monday, November 25, 2013 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels. The Rev. Robert Whoolery officiated. Interment followed at Laurel Point cemetery, Carmichaels. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
