Margaret Ann Vogel, age 89, formerly of 3609 Forest Circle, Manitowoc, died Monday morning, September 29, 2014 at Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Margaret was born in Prairie du Chien, WI, January 17, 1925, daughter of the late Michael and Genevieve (McNamara) Crowley. Margaret attended grade school in Crawford County and then attended Steuben High School in Steuben, WI for two years, transferring to Boscobel High School for her junior year. She then transferred to Sheboygan Central High School her senior year and graduated in 1943. After graduation, her family moved to Manitowoc where her father worked as a painter on the construction of U.S.N. submarines, and Marge was employed with the Boston Store, Manitowoc. On July 15, 1950 Margaret married Leonard Vogel at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Monona, WI. Marge was then employed with J.J. Stangel Hardware Company of Manitowoc as a receptionist and then with Stock's Supper Club as their hostess for thirty seven years. She was a member of the Capitol Civic Center, Wisconsin Historical Society, Lincoln Park Zoological Society, lector and chairperson of the lectors of the former St. Paul Catholic Church as well as a member of the choir and worship committee. She was a former communion distributor at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Margaret also volunteered at Holy Family Hospital. She loved walking, painting and working with ceramics. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home. What Margaret loved most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years: Leonard B. Vogel, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Patrick G. & Beth Vogel, St. Peters, MO, Michael L.Vogel & his fiancé Tracy Wood, Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren: Daniel Patrick Vogel, Lyndsie Marie Vogel, Ashley Margaret Ann and Michael Thomas Vogel; one sister and brother-in-law: Mary & Jerome Meyer, Green Bay; one sister-in-law: Rose Crowley, Rochester, MN; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Anna & Richard Jilot, Green Bay, Elaine & William Martin, Plainview, MN; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard & Hedy Vogel, Green Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Margaret was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law: Lucille & Thomas Peck and two brothers: Jerome & Michael Crowley.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand - 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. The visitation will continue at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand - 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Marge's name.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dennis Shilts, Gail Brocker and the nurses and staff at Holy Family Memorial Hospice for their care and kindness extended to the Vogel family.
