She was born to C. Edward and Naomi (Anderson) Schooler, on the way to the hospital, she was a triplet, he siblings were a brother and a sister. There were part of a family that numbered 15 children.
In 1934, the family moved from the family homestead south of Reliance to a farm south of Oacoma . Betty went to the Walker Country School through the eighth grade.
She worked in the two acres of gardens with her family in the summer.
Betty was married to Wayne Ellis in 1950 at Pierre, SD, they had seven children. In 1969, they moved to Chamberlain.
Betty was a cook at the Hamill School, and worked as waitress at the Rainbow Cafe . She was a cashier at Joe's Super Value and in recent years at Alco.
Betty enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and sewing.
Funeral services for Betty Ann Ellis, 85, of Chamberlain will be 10:00 am Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain with burial in the Graceland Cemetery at Oacoma, SD. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 1:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.
