Elsie Janice Forsythe, 79, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born in Wilkerson County, Ga. on February 3, 1927, to Joe and Mattie (Gibbs) Green. She married David Forsythe in Columbus, Georgia on January 26, 1952. Janice was an Army wife for 26 and a half years. She was an employee of the Ector County Independent School District and retired after 15 years of dedicated service. Janice was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Victoria Grimes.
Janice is survived by her husband of 54 years, retired Lt. Colonel David Forsythe of Odessa; daughter Belle Hicks, and husband Peter, of Odessa; sister Elizabeth Ann Adams, and husband retired Lt. Colonel Henry L. Adams, of Cordele, Georgia; four grandchildren, David Hudson Routh, Tara Lee Routh, Jessica Taylor Grimes and Tiffany Belle Grimes.
