Lydia Ham Blake is a granddaughter of Sergeant William Blake (1741-1825), a soldier of the War of the Revolution. Her parents, Major William Blake (1777-1823) and Elizabeth Wingate (1762-1809) of Dover, New Hampshire were married in 1800, and had three children, Elizabeth, Abigail and Lydia.
Lydia married Samuel Horne of Dover, New Hampshire in 1821. They had a family of twelve children, nine of whom reached the age of maturity. There adult children were Leonard W., Mary E., Daniel H., Harriett N., Lydia S., John B., Margaret J., George W., and Abby W. Their other children include Millard H. (b. Charleston, MA, d. Oct. 28, 1853 at Woburn, MA, 3 y. 1 m. 28 d); Elizabeth M., d. Sep. 7, 1854 at Woburn, MA, 3 m. 26 d.
