Ellen was the daughter of Michael Maurice Ryan(1851-1932) and Ellen Rose Harcourt(1857-1940). She married Patrick Joseph Clancey on 14 April, 1903 at Holy Rosary R.C. Church in Grand Marais. She gave birth to 8 children:William Michael(1904); Patrick Joseph(1905-1908); Ellen(1908-1982); James Gordon(1910-1998); Robert Maurice(1911-1990); Gertrude Mary(1912-2007); Agnes Patricia(1915-2010); Mary Helene(1916-1981). Ellen was a talented seamstress, piano player and was a past Regent of The Daughters of Isabella.
