Born Dec. 1, 1921, in Owensboro, Ky., to Bert C. and Fannie Davis Wilson, he married Ferne Louise Brush on May 31, 1944, in Owensboro. She died Dec. 24, 1997.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Michael, on Feb. 21, 1981; four brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Abernathy of Vermont, Ill., Sandra Schappaugh of Forest City and Rebecca Schmidt of St. David; two sisters, Orille Holmes and Middy Golson, both of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a farmer and worked in oil fields while living in Kentucky. He later moved to Illinois and farmed in Lewistown Township until his death.
He also was a coal miner at the Big 10 mine in Bryant, drove a school bus for Lewistown High School for several years, drove a route delivery truck for the Journal Star for 45 years and was a mechanic for various garages in Lewistown.
He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Lewistown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001 and American Legion Post 1.
