He is survived by his ex-wife Elfriede North (Schodel), his children, Janice Clark (North), Joseph H. North IV and Daniel A. North, as well as four loving and amazing grandchildren, Andrew, Ian, Joe, and Holly. He was born to Alice and Joseph H. North, Jr. on April 17, 1939 in Atlantic City, where he resided until he joined the US Army in 1956. He returned home in 1959 with his wife Elfriede. In 1968, he joined the Atlantic City Police Department where he passionately pursued his career in law enforcement. He retired from the police department, as Captain, after 27 years of devoted service, including duties on the scuba team, firearms instructor, swat team, and as a driving force in the Police Academy He graduated from Stockton State College with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 9 am to 11 am, on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home 1650 New Rd in Northfield . A service will be at 11 am. Burial to follow at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery. The family is requesting flowers or donations to the family will be appreciated.
