Larry Warren Coblentz of Frederick, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 2015 at age 71. Little did he know that the day he passed away was designated National Thrift Store Day--a perfect day for the man who was always on the hunt for the next treasure! Larry was the son of the late John H. Coblentz and Marion Elizabeth Umstead Kroll. He grew up in the Middletown area, graduating from Middletown High School, class of 1963. He entered the U.S. Navy, serving for four years, mostly aboard the U.S.S. Vulcan (AR-5). Larry held numerous jobs during his lifetime to include barber, truck driver, heavy equipment operator and an exceptional jack-of-all-trades. Larry was known for his infectious smile and a willingness to help anyone and everyone he could. He was a proud, loving father to his girls who brought him much joy. Anyone who knew him knew how much love he had for his daughters and did everything he could to help them and many others. He gave so much of himself to anyone in need that his brother Tom, also one of his best friends, is known for saying that not only would Larry give you the shirt off his back, but would also give you the car he rode in on. Larry will be deeply missed forever by his family and innumerable friends. Larry is survived by daughters Lorie S. McGirr and Julie A. Coblentz, granddaughter Morgan Burnett and grandsons Quentin Burnett and Austin Holotik. He is also survived by the following siblings: Nancy Hogan, John H. Coblentz, Jr., James R. Coblentz, Thomas Coblentz, David Coblentz, Terry Coblentz, Cathy Semler, Ray Coblentz, Lisa Coblentz, Melissa Myers, Kimberly Husnander, Robin Husnander and Dana Husnander. He is also survived by stepmother, Geraldine Coblentz. He was also survived by his dear friend Shirley Poplo. In addition to both of his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother Paul Coblentz. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony and picnic held in remembrance of Larry on October 4, 2015 at the AMVETS Post #9 Green Street, Middletown, MD 21769, from 12pm- 6pm, rain or shine. All are welcome to attend.
