She was born Emily Denia Payne on Nov. 16, 1919, in Bloomington to Samuel Francis Payne and Mary Ann Thornock. She was born and raised on her family’s farm in Bloomington, along with three brothers and two sisters. Denia was married to Jack Russell Bevans from June 1, 1941 until June 1966. They had three sons and one daughter. They lived in Pocatello until World War II started. After the war, they moved to Oregon for Jack’s work. In later years she learned new skills and was employed as a bookkeeper, an income tax preparer, a bonded notary, also holding a Real Estate License. She lived in Oregon until July 2007, when she moved to Rancho Cucamonga, California, to be with her daughter.
She was a beloved, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member, throughout her life, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions in Primary, Relief Society, and Boy Scouts, and doing service in the community.
She is preceded in death by her four brothers, Raymond, Truman, John and Frank (who died at birth) Payne and two sisters, Emma (Payne) Krogue and Gladys (Payne) Spencer, three sister-in-laws,Elva, Nedra, and Alta Payne, her son Lynn Carl Bevans, and her granddaughter Jenalee Elisabeth Bevans.
Surviving Emily Denia are two sons, Russell Dean Bevans of Eugene, Oregon; Rod Wayne Bevans of Salem, Oregon and one daughter, Sharee Claire (Bevans) Williams of Rancho Cucamonga, California; three daughters-in-law; one son-in-law, 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, March 31 at the Paris Idaho Stake Center, and graveside service at Bloomington Hill Cemetery.
