Obituary From Ottumwa Daily Courier, Thursday, July 24, 1952, Page 19:

Mrs. Margaret N. Abernathy, 65-year-old wife of Branford Abernathy of 104 Osceola street, died today at 8 a.m. at the St. Joseph hospital.

The daughter of Lewis and Malinda Miller, she was born June 18, 1887, in Wapello county, where she had been a resident all her life. Her marriage to Branford Abernathy took place August 28, 1910, in Blakesburg. She was a member of the Willard Street Methodist church.

Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her husband; two sons, Howard Abernathy of Batavia and John Abernathy of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Leslie Berry of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Ed Bell of Mystic.

Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Willard Street Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Myron E. Hayes of that church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until noon Saturday when it will be taken to the church. The casket will be closed at the beginning of service.
