Mrs. Margaret E. Barthlow Crum, 97, of 3218 Basford Road, Frederick, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Citizens Nursing Home. She was the wife of Charles Clinton Crum Sr. who died Oct. 18, 1973.

Born Feb. 3, 1902, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Millard Ernst and Elizabeth Frances Burke Barthlow. Mrs. Crum was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

Surviving are one son, Charles C. Crum Jr. and wife Nancy of Frederick; two daughters, Margaret E. Harrison, and Bertha Joan Kennedy and husband Marvin, all of Frederick; one brother, Russell S. Barthlow and wife Courtney of Frederick; three sisters, Madeline N. Smith and husband Robert, Kathleen A. Murphy and husband Charles, and Betty C. Miller and husband Richard, all of Frederick; eight grandchildren, Victoria F. Johnson, Joan V. Thomas, Joseph F. Harrison Jr. and wife Barbara, James C.S. Harrison and wife Debbie, Paul T. Harrison, Marvin E. Kennedy Jr., Charles C. Crum III and wife Kelly, and Christopher A. Crum and wife Wendy; four great-grandchildren, Victoria Sheppard and husband Sam, Mary Margaret Cogle and husband John, Peter Pitkin Thomas Jr. and Clinton B. Thomas; two great-great-grandsons, Andrew S. Sheppard and Cameron Kennedy Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Crum was preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Virginia Crum; two granddaughters, Emily C. Harrison and Margaret E. Frieghtner; two sisters, Alice D. Barthlow and Emily G. Grove; two brothers, William H. Barthlow and Millard E. Barthlow Jr.; and son-in-law, Joseph F. Harrison Sr.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, and Friday, Jan. 28, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. James R. Seale, rector of All Saints Episcopal Church, Frederick, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
