Katherine Johansen was born in Germany in 1880 to Fritz and Anna (LaFrenz) Johansen. She was the 7th of 10 children. She came to America with her parents in 1882 living in Iowa for 2 years before moving to Loup City, NE. She married Joseph J Siepmann June 2, 1902 in Tipton IA. She had 6 children: Mary, Edward, Robert, Rita, Alvena, and Irene.
