George S. “Abe” Abrecht, 75, of Westminster, died August 21, 2015 at his home.

Born October 20, 1939 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Ellanora Shoemaker Abrecht and William B. Abrecht, Sr. He was the husband of Patricia Simmons Abrecht, whom he married May 23, 1987.

Abe had worked for Safeway as a Cashier. He graduated from Taneytown High School in 1957. He was a member of Taneytown Presbyterian Church. He loved to play cards, watch television and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. Abe was a member of the Westminster Moose 1381, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2226 in Littlestown, and Molleville Farm Post 467 VFW.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his sister Nora K. Hood of Taneytown; step-children Edward L. Poist, Jr., Patricia J. Robinson and Michael G. Poist, all of Westminster; nieces Lisa Beaumont and Stephanie Staccone; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother William B. Abrecht, Jr.

Funeral services and interment will be private.
