Gladys Beckord, a 56 year resident of Redlands, passed away July 30, after a short illness. She was 92.
She was born December 6, 1913 in Ider, Alabama. She received her R.N. from Tampa Municipal Hospital in Florida and her Public Health nursing Certificate from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. When she came to Redlands, Gladys updated her credentials at UC Riverside and was a nurse for the Redlands Unified School District until her retirement in 1972.
She donated nursing services to the YMCA summer camp for many years and sat on the House of Neighborly Service Board. She was a member and past president of the California Nurses Association District 39, chapter DW of the PEO sisterhood, and Cosmos Club.
Her husband, Donald C. Beckord preceded her in death in 1983.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Mc Eachen of Anderson, CA, and Jane Henry of Redlands, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
