Bessie A. Seifert, 85, formerly of Bath and Easton, died April 24 in Old Orchard Healthcare, Bethlehem Township. She was the wife of Earl K. Seifert, who died in 1993.

She was last employed for one term as president of the Pennsylvania State Department American Legion auxiliary, Harrisburg, where she served for eight years as executive secretary/treasurer. She served on various committees and was elected national executive committeewoman in 1987. She was previously a hostess for 12 years for the former Delroy's Restaurant, Palmer Township.

Born in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sabilla E. (Bercaw) Kohler.

She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Phillipsburg.

She was a 65-year member of Rice Ebner American Legion auxiliary unit 588, Easton, and served three terms as unit president. She was Eastern Divisional chairman of membership for the auxiliary and was past district president and eastern vice president of Chapeon Passe of Salon 182-8/40.

She was past president of Four County Council, and served 25 years as secretary/treasurer of Four County Past President Parley and 15 years on the Four County Council finance committee.

She was a life member of Easton City Council PTA and a past president of the former Cottingham and Shull junior high schools PTA.

Survivors: Daughters, Barbara McFall of Nazareth, Esther Phelps of Lehighton; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Strunk Funeral Home, 602 W. Berwick St., Easton. Call 9-11 a.m. Monday. Contributions: To the family, c/o the funeral home.
