Funeral services for Lucille Downey Watts will be held Friday, October 21, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home-Bastrop. Mrs. Watts was born in Amherst County, Virginia, on September 19, 1904, and passed away peacefully in Bastrop, Louisiana, October 19, 2005, at the age of 101. Services will be conducted by Reverends Tommy Barker, Bernice McIntyre, and David Oliver. Family visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, October 20, 2005 from 5:30 p.m. till 7:30 p.m.

Interment and committal services will be at Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home-Bastrop.

Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; a daughter, Marion Watts Carter; 2 grandsons, John Stuart Carter and Douglas Charles Smith; and 1 great-grandson, Kelly Blanton Payne.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Maxine Watts Terral of Bossier City, Louisiana and Ida Watts Benson of Bastrop, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren, Joan Smith Hammons and husband Lee of Bossier City, Louisiana, Brenda Smith Payne and husband Jim of Greenwood, Louisiana, Micki Benson Benefield and husband Tom of Collierville, Tennessee, Marisa D. Benson of Bastrop, Louisiana, Paula Benson Hendrix and husband Mitch of Starkville, Mississippi, Stephen Ray Carter and wife Kathy of Mobile, Alabama, and Tom Randall Carter of Bastrop, Louisiana; 8 great grandchildren, Chris Hammons and wife Stephanie, Brian Hammons and wife Jennifer, Ken Payne and wife Karen, Kyle Payne and wife Rachel, Kevin Payne, Keith Payne and wife Kristy, Brandy Blackman Witthoft and husband Hymie, John Leamon Carter and wife Ashley; 7 great-great-grandchildren, Allison, James Richard, Gracie, Seth and Will Payne and Shelby and Ian Carter.

Pallbearers will be grandson Tom Carter and great-grandsons Chris Hammons, Brian Hammons, Ken Payne, Kyle Payne, Kevin Payne, Keith Payne, and John Leamon Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Spikes and Carl Bienz.

Our "sweet momma" and "mammaw" leaves a wonderful legacy of faithful and dedicated service to her Lord in the Assembly of God church for over 80 years. She taught Sunday School and visited nursing home shut-ins and shared her love of God to all. Her loving influence and sweet inspiration will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

The family request that for those who wish memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
