Born December 26, 1953, in Montgomery, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Basye and Ethel Bivens Basye.
Nancy was a nurse practitioner specializing in the field of women’s health. She was deeply passionate about her calling to help women. She worked tirelessly to empower women to live better lives through awareness of physical health and higher education. She was especially instrumental in seeking out wellness programs benefiting women of poor economic means. She wanted all women to be in a position to access healthcare.
Nancy was a devoted wife to her husband, Steven and a loving mother of her sons, Benjamin and Stefan. She was a loyal and caring friend, always there to lend a hand to help or an ear to listen.
An animal lover, she was a member of the Humane Society and the ASPCA. She adored her pets and they gave her great love and comfort during her life.
Nancy was baptized at the East Williamson Baptist Church.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Steven Johnson of Williamson; two sons, Benjamin Johnson and his wife, Kathy of Ansted, WV and Stefan Johnson of Williamson; a brother, George Daniel (Barbara) Basye of Montgomery, PA. Her step-mother, Kathleen Basye of Lizemores, WV, passed away on Jan. 16, 2015.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate Nancy's life at a memorial service on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson, with the Rev. Barry Jude presiding.
