F.M. Goolsby's death notice appears in the Sunday, February 28, 1897 Edition of "The Nashville American" on page 15. Deaths-F.M. Goolsby, Age 81, Male, White, Haemoptysis.

The above was the only notice of his death no obituary was found.

Francis Marion Goolsby was the son of Isham Sr. and Mary Polly Adams Goolsby, he was born in Fluvanna County, Virginia on his father's Mount Airy Plantation in 1815. Francis was highly educated for the time and became a lawyer in Tennessee after moving there prior to 1850, he tried several cases in Jackson County Tennessee. He also acquired several large tracts of land in Middle Tennessee. In 1862 he moved to Nashville where he married Martha Jane Kirby on Jan 25, 1862, in Nashville he was in the bond business (Money Lending). In 1881 he was the postmaster of the Paragon Mills Post Office in Davidson County, Tennessee. Francis married Agnes Adcock Meadows on Dec 29, 1885, in Nashville. On Sep 27, 1896 he made his Will leaving his estate to his wife Aggie and his "adopted" son, William T. Stratton (who was actually his half brother's son). F.M. Goolsby died on Saturday Feb 20, 1897 of Haemotysis (coughing up blood) He was buried on Monday Feb 22, and his will was probated on Feb 23rd. According to Mount Olivet records he was re-interred in May 1897. No other information was available as to why he was moved. Francis "F.M." Marion Goolsby now rests in an unmarked grave in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
