His occupation had been a farmer; he had served in the Civil War.

On March 6, 1915, Marion, McDowell County, N.C., Daniel Wesley Haney, a widower, died at the age of 75.

Provided Information Record stated at time of this Memorial Page entry, "NO DATES" on Aug 2, 2006. Also, Information as below was provided at that time.

(This is possibly Daniel "Wesley" Haney, 1850c, a son of James and Elizabeth Haney was listed as "Wesley", age 10, as being in thier household. Then a Wesley Haney shows up later as being age 30 in a 1870c. "Wesley" seemed to be a common family name.)

(Possible d. as being March 6, 1915, McDowell Co., N.C., as son of James Haney)

Co. F 58 NC Inf. CSA

Name: Daniel Haney

Residence: McDowell County, North Carolina

Enlistment Date: 14 Jul 1862

Enlistment Place: McDowell County, North Carolina

Side Served: Confederacy

State Served: North Carolina

Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 14 July 1862 at the age of 22.

Enlisted in Company F, 58th P. Rangers Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 14 Jul 1862.

* Burial Note: This Gardin-Haney Cemetery, located off of Marlowe Rd, near Glenwood, McDowell County, N.C., had been created in August 2002 at the time of this entry in 2006, as there were entries already entered on that date of August 2002. Earlier generations of Gardin, Haney, and a few other Surnames were buried in this cemetery and had been entered as a Memorial Page at FaG.

As an update now as Death Certificates N.C. are available for use as information as for deaths 1909-1975. The death certificate for Daniel Wesley Haney stated that he was to be buried in the "Haney Burial Ground" and was buried on March 7, 1915.

It appears someone has now entered a second cemetery and named it "Haney Cemetery" as of April 30, 2009, as same location, and have entered a second page for Daniel Wesley Haney and perhaps duplicates for others. At the time of this added note there have been 6 entries to the newly added cemetery, all with no earlier entry dates than April 30, 2009.

It is difficult to say that it was a overlook, as creating a second cemetery, as it seems it has happened before more than once and is still being frequently done. It seems a new cemetery is created and then the impression is given the first cemetery wasn't properly named, while they then add duplicate entries and then refuse to delete thier duplicates added of others. A brief glance at the cemeteries in McDowell County, N.C., as for Find A Grave would very easily show Gardin-Haney Cemetery already entered as being so close in alphabetically order. I did take notice and found the already entered cemetery when I entered this page and others around that time period of 2006 and have since.

* At this second entered (location the same as first cemetery entered in 2002) "Haney Cemetery" the person has even added a Memorial Page entry (different surname) that according to the deceased's death certificate, it states the burial was to be made in Yancey County, N.C. at a church cemetery in Yancey County.
