Guy Wilbur Haney was born near Floris, Davis County, Iowa on November 2, 1894 and lived in Davis County his entire life. On June 12,1923 he married Minnie Marie Sloan in Davis County. They had eight children, of which two of them died in infancy. He fed his family mostly by farming and hunting and trapping wild game. He and his two boys (Rex and Charles) also cut and sold timber from the eighty acre piece of property they called home. Guy had absolutely no use for automobiles. He never owned one and was very seldom talked into riding in one. His mode of travel was his team of horses and wagon.
