Mrs. Melissa Morgan Dies At Canandaigua.

Mrs. Melissa Angle Morgan, 93, widow of David B. Morgan, both well known Lima residents before the turn of the century, died, last week Wednesday, in her home on Gibson street, Canandaigua, to which city the family moved from Lima about 1917.

Mrs. Morgan was born Oct. 19, 1848, in the town of Mendon, her parents being affiliated with the Quackers of that section. She came with them to Lima in her girlhood, their home being the present Oscar E. Corby farm, Corby road, formerly the Angle road, named after Mrs. Morgan's family. Here she was married in 1868 to Mr. Morgan, who died in 1901. They made their home in the historic old brick house, Morgan homestead, West Main road, now occupied by Herbert H. Knop. Mr. Morgan was descended from Capt. John Morgan, one of Lima's first settlers, Revolutionary war hero.

Three of the Morgan daughters were members of Ska-hase-ga-o chapter, D.A.R., Lima, in its earlier period, the Misses Melissa and Anna Morgan joining as charter members in 1908 and Mary E. Morgan the following year. Anna Morgan, married to Floyd Adams, died in March 1935 and was buried in Oak Ridge cemetery here with, the Rev. Leon L. Swarthout of Manchester, former Lima Baptist pastor, officiating, as he did for Mrs. Melissa Morgan, Friday afternoon. Bearers were Former Supervisor Willard McDonald, Lima, William Hinman, West Bloomfield, Roie F. Sterling, Batavia and three from Canandaigua.

Besides the daughter, Melissa, Mrs. Morgan leaves a son, John S. Morgan, Canandaigua, a sister, Mrs. Clara E. Ford, Geneva, Ill. and six grandchildren.
