LONACONING - Mary Lois Duckworth, 74, of 40 Main St., Lonaconing, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, where she had been a patient for several weeks.

Born Aug. 11, 1932, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Isabel (Phillips) McDonough. Her husband on Nov. 28, 1997, George Duckworth; and a brother, Richard McDonough, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Duckworth graduated from Central High School in 1950. She moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed by the United States Agriculture Department and IBM. Missing her hometown, she returned to "Coney." Over the years she was employed at the Luke Paper Mill, Sears, Board of Education and the job she enjoyed most, selling Avon to neighbors and friends.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending holidays and vacations with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois spent hours playing bingo and putting puzzles together with friends. She was the type of person who lit up a room with her smile and was a friend to all who knew her.

Lois was a member of the Lonaconing Senior Citizens, the Central Alumni, and a volunteer wrapper for Toys for Happiness. She spent over 10 years volunteering as a dispatcher for Georges Creek Ambulance Service.

She leaves behind three daughters, Diane Foutz and husband Gene, Linda Myers and husband Randall, all of Barton, Sharon Martin and husband Ernest of Pittsville; her grandchildren, Andrea Horner and husband Robert, Marcia Jones and husband Alfred, Brandon Foutz and wife Renee, all of Willards, Andrea and Kari Myers of Barton; her great-grandchildren, Clayton and Mason Horner and Shyanne Foutz; and two very special friends, "Sissy" Green and Ruthie Durst.

At Mrs. Duckworth's request, her body was cremated.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at the Boal Chapel on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating.

Inurnment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.
