She was born to Charlie and Cloya (Taylor) King in Joyce, Louisiana. She then moved with her family to McNary, Ariz. After the death of her mother when she was 6 years old, she moved with her father and brother to Winnfield, La. In 1941, she moved to Weyerhaeuser Camp 6 near Bly and attended the Bly School. She later graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls. She married Taylor High, who she met in 1947 at a dance in Klamath Falls, on May 1, 1948. They have owned Taylor's Family Ranch, a Century Farm, in South Poe Valley for more than 50 years.
Mrs. High was active in Poe Valley Grange, Poe Valley Exenstion, 4-H Sewing and beef clubs, and Henley High School sports. She was a 50-year member of the Oregon State Grange.
In addition to her ranch-related chores and responsibilities, she worked as a bookkeeper at Henley High School for 15 years before retiring in 1981. After her retirement, she enjoyed the family's newly built home in Poe Valley and feeding and watching birds there. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends there.
Survivors include her husband, Taylor High of Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Viki High; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bruce Jensen; grandchildren Andy and Melissa High and Martin and Shane Jensen; and aunt, Willie Mae Jordan.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Martin and Terry High, and her brother, William King.
