Mrs. George Abel Dies at Age of 83
Mrs. Lueldah Jane Abel, 83, widow of George Abel, died at 4 a.m. today in her home on Third Street Extension, following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Abel was born in Rockland Township on Nov. 12, 1868, the daughter of Peter and Rebecca Brandon Simpson. She had resided in Franklin for 65 years and was well and favorably known in the community.
Her husband died in 1931.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. B.A. Hazlett, Mrs. H.W. Devore, Mrs. Frank L. Phillips, Mrs. Samuel Witherup, Mrs. C.B. Hazlett, Mrs. C.J. Barnicle and Russell Abel, all of Franklin. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. J.H. Haney, Franklin; and a brother, H.H. Simpson, Cranberry.
Friends will be received in the Buchanan Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. Frank A. Towers, Pastor of the Fox Street Church of God. Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lueldah Abel of Third Street, widow of George Abel, who died Sunday were conducted Wednesday in the Buchanan Funeral Home by Rev. frank A. Towers, Pastor of the Fox Street Church of God of Rocky Grove.
Rev. Towers read "In the Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" during the services.
Interment was in Franklin Cemetery and the following grandsons of the deceased were pallbearers: James Barnicle, Richard and William Beith, Robert and Gerald Hazlett and Richard, Paul and George Phillips.
A large delegation of members of the Jesse G. Greer Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, visited the funeral home Tuesday evening and paid respects to the memory of the deceased.
Attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Hess, Pittsburgh; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips and Mrs. O. Snyder, Erie; Mr. and Mrs. Clair Hood and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hazlett, Sharon; Mrs. Alice Forbush and daughter, Lagrange, O.; Kenneth Phillips, Long Beach, Calif.
