Murder victim. Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth was brutally gunned down while at a northwest Harris County gas station Friday evening, Sheriff Ron Hickman said. Darren Goforth, 47, was a 10-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, working the west district patrol division.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Armstrong Coffelt; Step-dad: Robert J Coffelt and father-in-law, Robert Allison. A new tribute to honor Deputy Darren Goforth, who was killed in the line of duty, passed Tuesday after a vote by Harris County commissioners.
Commissioners voted to rename Horsepen Creek Park off West Road in honor of Deputy Goforth. Goforth was murdered while fueling his patrol car at the Chevron gas station on West and Telge.
