Harold Francis Ross, 92, of Kansas City, Kan., passed away, Friday, August 28, 2015. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Amos Family Funeral Home with burial in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorthea B. Ross in August of 2008. Born in Stephenson, Mich., the couple was married in Chicago and moved to Kansas City, Kan., in 1951. Mr. Ross was an Army Veteran of WWII who fought with General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge and his unit helped liberate Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. After the war, he taught American History and Government at Gardner High School for 25 years. He was awarded Teacher of the Year by his students. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by children, Don C. Ross and wife Joellen, Mary Paulsen and husband Dale, John M. Ross and wife Karen, Nancy Craigg and husband Ron, David P. Ross and wife Rhonda, and Robin Thoele; 20 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
