Funeral services for John Douglas Armstrong, known to his many friends as "Chicken from Rock 106," age 25, of West Monroe will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop with the Rev. Bill Fowler officiating. Interment will be at the Carter Cemetery near Collinston under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. Thursday evening and all day Friday until 9 p.m.

John was born May 14, 1981 in Bastrop and was called home to God on May 31, 2006. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Johnny M. Armstrong and maternal grandparents Peter and Margie Holcomb.

John was a graduate of West Monroe High School where he lettered in wrestling in 2000. He was a member of the 1997 Louisiana Junior Olympic boxing team and he was honored to have carried the Olympic torch for the 2002 Summer Olympics. He worked as a Deck Hand for Parker Drilling Company of New Iberia. John was a man with a good heart and a kind soul willing to give anything to his family and friends.

Surviving John are his parents, Douglas W. Armstrong and Margie Holcomb Armstrong of West Monroe, brother, James D. Eppinette of West Monroe, three nieces, Carson, Carmann, and Sydnee Eppinette, two nephews, Micah and Jace Eppinette, paternal grandmother, Annie Armstrong of Bastrop, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Chad Hays, Shadoe Haze, Ollie Hughes, Roy Dale Hughes, Brad Ramshur, Jay Traylor, Ryan Kimball, and Jason Sliger.

Honorary pallbearers are Chad Holcomb and Jeffery Holcomb.
