Obituary: George Nickles, veteran Oil City merchant, died at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 227 Seneca st. He had been failing in health for the past nine years. Mr. Nickles was born in Greece and came to Oil City when a boy. About 60 years ago he entered business with the late A.D. Chacona. A portion of his life was spent at Olean, N.Y., where he became a charter member of the Olean lodge of Elks. Mr. Nickles operated the Drake Cigar store for the next few years. He was a member of the Farrell Greek Orthodox Church. Surviving are his wife and the following brothers and sisters: James Nickles of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Gus Nickles of Barnesville, O.; Mrs. George Chacona of Erie; Peter Nickles and Mrs. Pota Laskaris of Greece. The body was removed to the Steffee funeral home where friends may call.
