Carmen Ercell Barrow Kleese, age 94, of Strasburg passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Strasburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Howard officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Garden, Warren County.

Mrs. Kleese was born September 12, 1914 in Capon Bridge, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Thomas Cover and Maud Ica Gardner Barrow.

She was a member of Strasburg Presbyterian Church, past chairperson of Women Circle of the church, former Sunday School teacher, past president of Strasburg Community Library, Docent of Strasburg Museum, an avid Bridge player and retired from Quick Music, Strasburg.

She was the wife of the late L.F. “Jack” Kleese.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Marie Kleese of Strasburg and Jane K. Ledford of Clear Brook; a son, Richard B. Kleese and wife, Annie of Strasburg; a sister, Joan B. Marston of Edinburg; a grandson, Mark Ledford and wife, Ami of Asheville, North Carolina and a great-granddaughter, Sonja Ledford.

Pallbearers will be Amos Orndorff, Bill McClanahan, Larry Allamong, Jim Allamong, Donnie Galladay and Wayne Barrow.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Stover Funeral Home, 177 No. Holliday St., Strasburg, VA 22657.

Memorials may be made to Liz Kleese Scholarship Fund, or Strasburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.
