Born September 5, 1945, in Spartanburg, he was the son of Paul Dean Ravan, Sr. (1919–1956) and Georgetta Harrold Ravan Dawson (1922–2015); husband of Juanita Diane Fleming Sullivan Ravan (1949–2002).
A correctional officer, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and was Methodist by faith.
Other survivors include a son, Robert L. Ravan, Jr.; daughters, Judi R. Giebeler and Caroline V. Ravan; brother, Paul Dean Ravan (1943–2020); sister, Linda R. Kirby; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was 7:00-9:00 pm, Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dennis Tessnier.
Memorials could be made to Interim Hospice, Spartanburg, SC.
