Jacob R. Weger, 70, of Oglesby, formerly of Morris, died at 12:30 a.m. May 26,2005, in the home of his daughter in McNabb, following a four-month illness.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Prey Funeral Home, Oglesby, by Mendota Masonic Lodge 176, A.F. & A.M., followed by military rites by LaSalle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Entombment will be in the Garden Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, La Salle. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday in thefuneral home.

Mr. Weger was born Aug. 17,1934, in Derby, Iowa, to Helen Winterbottom. He married Linda Trump. They later divorced. He was a union carpenter and in February 2003 he received his 35-year pin from the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M., Free Masons of Illinois. He was a member of the Mendota Masonic Lodge and theIllinois Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He enlisted in the Marines in February 1953, serving in combat inthe Korean War, and was discharged as a sergeant in December 1955. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, U.N. Service Medal and Korean Service Medal.

Survivors are two daughters, Shelley (Jim) Cooke of Oglesby and Susan Burr of rural McNabb; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosemary (Emil) Buckley of Oglesby and Naida Abbott of Tonica. He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, Steven Weger, who died in March 1990.
