ISLANDTON, SC - Paschal Liston Bishop, Jr., affectionately, known by all as "Sonny", age 71, entered into rest Monday evening, September 1, 2015, at his home on Forks Road in Islandton.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon, September 3, 2015, from Adnah United Methodist Church, Adnah Church Road, Islandton. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow in the churchyard.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 11:30 that morning in the church sanctuary.

Born May 26, 1944, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Paschal Liston Bishop, Sr. and the late Bessie Lee Polk Bishop. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate Third Class.

A lifelong welder, he retired from CCX in Walterboro after a thirty-four year career. He was a member of Adnah United Methodist Church in Islandton and was also a member and Past Master of the Hudson Masonic Lodge, No. 373 - Ancient Free Masons.

He will always be remembered for his devotion and strong work ethic. Surviving are: his wife of forty-eight years, Mrs. Mary "Terry" Garceau Bishop; three children, Stephen Bishop and his wife Crystal of Walterboro, Randy Bishop and his wife Stacy of Islandton, and Dawn Bishop Bryan of Islandton; two sisters, Mary Phillips of Beaufort and Catherine "Babe" Valentine and her husband Eddie of Islandton; and a brother, Lamar Bishop and is wife Emma of Nixville.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Bishop, Caleb Bishop, Lacey Martin, Christina Martin, Charles Martin, Dustin Martin, Harlie Bishop, Jessica Battle and her husband Andre, Whitney Bryan, Rebekah Bryan, and Collin Bryan; and a great grandchild, Raisa Battle. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Bishop Crosby.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the administration, nurses, and staff of Amedysis Hospice for the care and devotion they have so lovingly provided to Mr. Bishop.
