William was the young son of Laura and Charles Taylor Lafon. He had an older brother Earl, born in 1914 and a younger sister Hazel born in 1916. His mother Laura was married to his father Charles Taylor "Charlie Lafon in early 1910 (when she was 17 years old), until her death when she was 26 year old in 1919. His father "Charlie" was the son of Samuel Lafon (born in Feb 1863 in Va.) and Dora A. (born in Nov. 1861 in Ohio). He was drafted into World War II in 1942. His father's siblings were John A. born in Feb. 1882; Albert F. born in Jan 1884; Lula M born in Mar 1892; Sherman G. who was born in May 1894 and married Myrtle--(their children were Donald R. born in 1911; George L. born in 1914 and Nancy M. bornin 1915); and Gilbert born in Dec 1896. On the 1900 Censue report he and his parents were listed as living in Windsor, Lawrence County, Ohio. He then remmaried Mary Janie Bowen Lafon and they had Harry Clay Lafon (b. 1924, d. 1969); Isaac "Ike"; Tom; Jimmy and Rush. He is buried next to his mother Laura, his father Charlie and his father's second wife Mary Janie.
