Mary Jeanette "Janie" Bowen was born to Jefferson "Jeff" Davis Bowen and Mary Ellen Woodyard Bowen. Her siblings were Bert Bowen (1890-); Clyde Bowen (1898-); and Eugene Bowen (1908-). She was married to Charles Taylor Lafon in about 1923. Her husband Taylor was married in early 1910 to her cousin Laura Bowen (when she was 17) until her death on March 8, 1919 when she was 26 year old from apendicitis. They had three children. Earl born in 1914; William Elmer Lafon who was born April 15, 1915 and died Oct 24, 1921 at the age of 6 years and Hazel born in 1916. He then remmaried Mary Janie Bowen Lafon and they had Harvey Clay Lafon (b. 1924, d. 1969); Isaac "Ike"; Tom; Jimmy and Rush.
