Albert Elliott Freeman of Mt Holly died Sat Sept 28, 2002 at the Virtua Mt Holly Center in Lumberton. He was 88.
Mr. Freeman was born in Altoona, PA and graduated from Altoona HS in 1931. He continued his education at Penn State and received a BA from Pacific Western UN and also a Masters of Arts in History. He started his career as a radio broadcaster in Altoona. From the '30-50's he served in executive capacities for several newspapers around the country. In 1955 he became general manager of the Mt Holly Herald (later named Burl Co Herald). In 1967 he headed a group that purchased the paper and from then until 1977, he was editor and publisher of the paper. He retired and sold the paper in 1977.
Predeceased by his wife Majorie Virginia Freeman, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Albert and Nancy of Tabernacle, a daughter Marjorie V. Freeman of Southminster, UK and three grandchildren: Amanda Freeman of Tabernacle, Lauren and James Turner of UK. Also surviing are his brother and a sister.
Funeral serivces Wed 11am at Perinchief Chapels. Interment in St Andrew's Graveyard. Friends may call Wed 10-11 at the funeral home.
