Donald H. Forter

Donald H. Forter, age 80 of Monroe, died 10:25 a.m. Tuesday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. He had been in poor health for 16 months.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Donald will lie instate 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life will begin at 10 a.m. The church Pastor, Rev. James Smalarz will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born September 26, 1934, he was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude (Ziegler) Forter. He married Ethel L. Short on May 14, 1955 at St. John Catholic Church. Ethel preceded him in death on December 15, 1993.
Donald was employed for 22 years in Toledo as a supervisor at Lehn and Fink Products Co. from 1973 until his retirement in 1995. Previously he had been employed by Woodall Industries in Monroe.
Donald graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School, and was a life-long member of St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for walks, and doing genealogy research.
Donald is survived by four children, Deborah Brown, Janice Duvall, Dawn Forter, and Donald Forter, all of Monroe; a sister, Dolores (Bernard) Thoma of Monroe; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife Ethel, Donald was also preceded by two sons-in-law, Charles Brown and Ronald Duvall.
