In early childhood, Mrs. Armstrong was converted and joined the Presbyterian Church, but later united with the Missionary Baptist Church. She lived a devoted Christian life for more than 70 years.
Miss Sarah Porter married John B. Armstrong on 25 February 1857. To this union were born 10 children, five of whom preceded her in death.
Survived by her children - Mrs. Lelia Harper, F.C. Armstrong, Mrs. May Samford, Mrs. Fannie Womack, Mrs. Eva Himes.
