Mrs. Sarah Porter Armstrong, 87, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eva Himes. Services were officiated by Rev. McKinley Norman, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Graham at the home of Mrs. Himes.

In early childhood, Mrs. Armstrong was converted and joined the Presbyterian Church, but later united with the Missionary Baptist Church. She lived a devoted Christian life for more than 70 years.

Miss Sarah Porter married John B. Armstrong on 25 February 1857. To this union were born 10 children, five of whom preceded her in death.

Survived by her children - Mrs. Lelia Harper, F.C. Armstrong, Mrs. May Samford, Mrs. Fannie Womack, Mrs. Eva Himes.

Sister of John Algernon Porter, buried in Shannon Cemetery, Shannon, MS. She was living in Graham, Young County, Texas at the time of her death.

Two other children: Jessie L., Infant Twin of Eva.
