His death certificate gives his DOB as 9 May 1871, but as he appears in the 1870, I'm assuming it was actually 9 May 1870!
An interesting theatrical connection which - or may not - be a coincidence. His sister Cynthia Adelaide Cash (1875-1891) married Englishman David Gwydyr Harvey in 1890. At that point Harvey's brother, John Martin Harvey, was working in London in Sir Henry Irving's Lyceum Company. John went on to receive a knighthood for his acting in 1921 and died Sir John Martin-Harvey. Their younger brother, Charles Woodroffe Harvey, moved to the US and was a pastor in Massachusetts. His son, John Harvey, was a lighting designer on Broadway for many musicals, working for Joe Mielziner.
