Willis James "Bill" Riley, 84, of Tunnelton, WV, passed away at 3:55 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Preston Memorial Hospital.
Bill was born September 14, 1925, the sixth child of the late Walter Hayes and Effie Viola (Plum) Riley Jefferys. He was a member of the Howesville Church of Christ, Col. Rowan VFW Post 2345 of Tunnelton, the Tunnelton Lions Club and was on the Board of Directors of the Sheltered Workshop for many years.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving aboard the LCSL-34 in the Pacific Theatre. He worked several years on gas drilling rigs for Ray Brothers and Loam & Johnson, and was a coal miner for forty years and retired from Island Creek Coal Co. of Bayard, WV.
