Born July 7, 1923 in Winsted; the son of the late Peter Sr., and Julia (Rood) Mellas. He was a lifelong resident of Winsted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and will be deeply missed. Peter owned and operated The Peter Mellas Plumbing Company.
He is survived by his daughter, Norma Laferriere of Waterbury; son, Stan Mellas and wife Debi of MA; two sisters, Ethel Bigaliazzi and Helen Fulop, both of Torrington; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 2 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Michele Laferriere, sisters, Anna, Mary and Jeannie; and son-in-law, Nelson Laferriere.
The family would like to express their great appreciation to Camri and Joey for enabling Dad to stay in his home as long as he did.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at The Sons of Jacob Cemetery, Torrington at 11AM with full Military Honors. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements.
