Bud met his lifetime love Dorothy Felton at a dance at the Terp Ballroom in Austin. They were married on October 12, 1957 and made their home on the farm near taopi. They moved to Austin in 1969 when Bud began working for Hormel Foods Inc. Together they raised three children, Rita, David and John.
