Christine Lee Counts Hedger was born on May 3, 1945, in Huntington, WV, to mother Marguerite B. Smith and father Clement Counts. She was a faithful servant to the Lord, and made working with children her ministry. She was a teacher and counselor for Dekalb County Schools for 18 years, during which time she began many outreach programs for children in need.
A woman with a generous and loving spirit, Chris was always there to help those who needed her. Working with church family, she was active in several missionary trips to Jamaica where she led Vacation Bible School and made sure the impoverished children and their families received basic necessities for living and a spiritual education, teaching about the salvation of Jesus Christ. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Stone Mountain.
The Funeral Service to Celebrate and Honor the Life of Christine Lee Counts Hedger will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, 1147 Panola Road, Stone Mountain, GA. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
