Son of Archie Monroe and Fannie Rogers Stephens, husband of Virginia Elda Perritt.

CREEDMOOR - Archie C. Stephens Sr., 89, a resident of 2066 Will Suitt Road, died Tuesday, August 07, 2007, at Durham Regional Hospital. A native of Dillion, he lived most of his life in Orrum, NC. He was the son of the late Archie M. and Fannie Rogers Stephens. His wife, Virginia Stephens, also preceded him in death.

He was a member of Living Word Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of WWII and a retired prison supervisor with the U.S. government.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Dr. Terry Hall. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Stephens Owens of Dallas; three sons, Lester C. Stephens (Josephine) of Creedmoor, Gary L. Stephens (Becky) of Butner and Johnny C. Stephens of Wake Forest; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
