NORTH VOLNEY, Aug. 2. - James Bowen, an old resident of
this place, died at the home of Mrs. Henry Bowen last Thursday evening. Funeral in Fulton Sunday and burial at North Volney.===

James Bowen, a Veteran of the Civil War. Passes Away After a
Brief Illness. James Bowen, a veteran of the Civil war, died last evening at his home 17 1-2 South Second street, aged 71 years. He sustained a shock or stroke Wednesday morning while on the street and had to be assisted to his home. He never rallied. . Mr. Bowen served during the Civil war in the Fifteenth New York Cavalry regiment.
About nine years ago he made his home with his brother, Henry Bowen, whose death occurred not very long ago. Another brother Harvey Bowen, of North Volney, is very seriously ill at this time. Mr. Bowen was a widower. He is survived by his sister in-law, Mrs. Henry Bowen, and by three nieces, Mrs. Edward Buell and Miss Jennie Bowen, of Fulton and Mrs. J. F. Weidman of Vincennes, Ind.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from his late home. Rev. J . W. Barrett officiating.
