Eliza Martha Willard was born 21 July 1814 in Missouri. Her parents were Alexander Willard and Eleanor McDonald Willard. Alexander Willard served with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Eliza M Willard married John Echstein Jones. They had at least 2 children: Rosena Echstein Jones and George Jones. The daughter married James K. Giles. Eliza M Willard Jones married a second time to Rev. John B. Hartsough, a Methodist minister. He built the first Methodist church in Redding. Following his death, Eliza lived with her married daughter and family at the Giles Ranch in the Balls Ferry area. Eliza died 11 March 1911 at the ranch and is buried in Parkville Cemetery with her daughter, son-in-law and her grandchildren.

Rev Hartsough was her 3rd husband. Her second husband was Austin Storrs who died -- she had three children by him
