Bernadette Lee Sargent, 61, of Airport Rd. passed away at her home Sunday, September 18, 2011 surrounded by her family.

Known as Bernie, she was born in Concord February 18, 1950, the daughter of the late Bernard and Rose A. (Whiting) Townes

On Feb. 9, 1969, she married her soul mate, Robert E. Sargent, who passed away in August of 2010.

During her lifetime she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a true friend to all who knew her. She ran a daycare in her home for many years while raising her own children. She later ventured out and began working as a cashier at Toys R Us where she was loved by all.

Her many hobbies included spending time with her family and going to cookouts and yard sales. She loved playing with her grandchildren and cheering them on in whatever sport or event they were in. She also enjoyed working in the yard with her husband and their dog, Max.

She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Sargent) Brooks and her husband, David, and Debbie (Sargent) Foote and her husband, Tom, both of Concord. Known as Grammy or Gram, she also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Bobby, Sammy and Katie Sargent; Kristina and DJ Brooks; Kimmie, Jessie and Danny Vezina; two great grandchildren, Jaiden and Jonathan Sargent; and three more great grandchildren on the way.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernie was predeceased by their daughter, Tammy Sargent.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. The Rev. Virginia Fryer of Bow Mills United Methodist Church will officiate.

A gathering to celebrate Bernie's life will follow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moose on N. State St. Concord.

Expressions of sympathy, donations or flowers may be sent to her family at 204 Airport Rd. Concord, 03301.
