8 Aug 2006: Robert E. Zerby, 78, Penn Hall, Gregg Township, Spring Mills, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006. Born April 24, 1928, in Penn Hall, he was the son of the late Edward and Lola (Heckman) Zerby. On June 17, 1947, he married Hazel B. Bierly, who preceded him in death July 5, 2002. For more than 40 years, he owned and operated Zerby's Store in Spring Mills. He was a lifetime member of Bellefonte Moose, and member of Gregg Township Fire Company. Bob enjoyed spending weekends at camp at the Coburn Tunnel visiting with friends, playing cards and fly fishing. His favorite fly was a purple fly. Surviving are daughter Linda Z. Hosterman of Spring Mills; son Robert E.E. Zerby and wife, Jerri, of Millheim; grandchildren Allyn Hosterman and Jenille Zerby Struble of Spring Mills; great-grandchildren Allison Zerby and Luke Struble of Spring Mills; and brother Dean Zerby and wife, Arlene, of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by brother Glenn; sister Gladys Corman; and a son-in-law, Albert R. "Oop" Hosterman, in 2004. Graveside service Sunday, Aug. 13, at Heckman Cemetery. [Centre Daily]
