Over her 32 years of teaching in Beverly Hills, Downey and Orcutt, Vicki found joy in sharing music with her students. She was known for the special musical programs she directed, as well as being a caring, creative and hardworking teacher. Besides being an outstanding educator, Vicki will also be remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt and devoted Christian. One of her biggest joys in life was spending time with her family, whether it be trips to Santa Barbara, seeing a matinee movie, watching a Laker game or just simply having the whole family gathered on her bed and talking for hours. She also made sure her daughters had a relationship with Jesus Christ by taking them to church, sending them to Church camps, listening to her Gaither Homecoming CDs and videos, deeply studying her Bible and living a life that was an example of what it meant to be a Christian.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Armstrong, of 28 years; their two children Meagan Armstrong of Los Angeles, her daughter Caitlin Armstrong of Santa Maria; Meagan's fiancé Ryan Lloyd; her sweet golden retriever Jack; sister Pamela Box and brother-in-law Ron Box of Santa Maria; father-in-law Bob Armstrong of San Luis Obispo and numerous aunts, nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Rose Hlls Memorial Park in Whittier, CA and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Maria, CA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
