Harvey Christian Springer, the son of Christian and Martha (Steider) Springer, was born on a farm east of Giltner, Nebraska, on March 9, 1907, and died at his home in Aurora, Nebraska, on August 15, 1995, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 6 days.
He attended country school near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School with the class of 1925.
On December 10, 1929, he was united in marriage to Zola Augspurger at the Aurora Pleasant View Church. They farmed in Hamilton County all their life, with the exception of one year when he farmed in Illinois. In 1963, they moved into their present home in Aurora.
Harvey was a faithful member of the Aurora Pleasant View Bible Church, and served as a member of the board for several years. He was also a charter member of the Aurora Gideon Camp, was an active member until 1972, when he became an associate member until his death.
He loved his wife, farming, trees, working in the yard and garden and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Melvin, and one in infancy; 2 sisters, Wylda Wilson and Pearl Newcomer.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Zola of Aurora; one son Harvey E. Springer and his wife Janelle of Omaha; 3 daughters, Rose Marie of San Francisco, California, Janice (Mrs. Gordon) Johnson of Aurora, and Sally (Mrs. Richard) Phillips of Minden; one brother Paul Springer of Aurora; 2 sisters, Glenda (Mrs. Frank) Nelson of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Verna Sears of Flanagan, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
